Well, I have been googling around to try and find a cure for my waterlogged Ipod, which was submerged in a fish tank whilst I was feeding my fish.
First place I looked was
Ipoddetails.com which for the most part rambled on about what Ipods were. But then gave some advice near the bottom...
¨....it depends on the severity but in most cases, a waterlogged iPod can be restored with a few simple strategies, parts, and repairs.
First, you must remove your iPod from the water source, such as the lake or toilet (I would have thought this was pretty obvious), and turn off the power supply. You dont want a nasty electric shock and a damaged iPod. It is also a good idea to let your waterlogged iPod completely dry out before trying to revive it. To dry out your iPod, place it in a protective wrap such as a towel or piece of fabric and put it near a moderate heat source, like a sunny window, or in a warm room. Wait at least two days to give your iPod ample drying time. If you can bear to be without your iPod for longer than two days, you may have a better chance of reviving it. More time spent drying out, may get your iPod up and running faster and keep it running without much ado. After you are relatively sure your iPod has dried out, give the power switch a try. Not so good signs are the Folder or Sad Face icon popping up....¨Well it has been drying out fora few days now and no response so far, so perhaps not!
Next i visited
Methodshop.com and their advice was pretty much the same as the above, but I found this comment too funny to let slip...
"So, i was reading your article about the ipods falling into the toilet and at the very end, you said, "Look on the bright side, at least you didn't stick it in the washing machine." Well, i did. it went through an entire cycle and an extra rinse because my clothes were extra dirty from working in red clay. I was about to put my clothes in the dryer when my earphones fell out of the pocket of a sweatshirt. NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!" was all that came out of my mouth." ~ mac0904
Oh dear....

So maybe Yahoo Answers has some help.
This was the link that came up in the google search.
"My video nano iPod got waterlogged from excessive rain. It wouldn't turn on, and then I charged it for about 5 seconds, and when I turned it on the screen was flickering. I turned it off, and then my friend turned it on again and tried to fix it, and stopped the flickering but made the screen darken even more than it already was. Then I put it on the window sill. It is an 8 gig iPod. It is now creeping towards the third day of being waterlogged. I found out some info about how to fix it, but it was all REALLY confusing. So PLEASE HELP ME!!!!
"The two answers given were along these lines...
"Try putting it in a ziploc bag filled with dry rice. I had a cell phone that got wet and this did the trick. The rice will draw moisture from the I-Pod.
Good Luck!!!"This seems quite reasonably good advice and by the sound of the Original posters response it seems to have worked ok....
"I put my ipod in a snack sized ziploc filled with rice (I didn't have sand) for 24 hours and then checked it. It seemed to have gotten out most of the water but I'm going to put it in for another 24 hours just to be safe. Then I'll hook it up to my computer to see if it worked or not. If it doesn't work, I'll send it to the apple people and see if they can fix it or I can use my warranty (it's the newest generation, so they'll know the warranty couldn't have expired).
Hopefully it's fine though! :-/
I hooked it up to the computer a little while ago and found good news and bad news. Good news is that all the content was spared and works. Bad news is that the screen is completely SCREWED up. When I hooked it up the little iPod symbol showed up on the desktop and in iTunes, but it looked like the screen of the iPod was turned off. Then I looked closer and saw that the screen was on, but extremely dark with blotchy spots on it. So I think I'll have to send it to the Apple people or bring it to the Apple store
. If any of you have any solutions that don't involve completely disassembling my iPod, then PLEASE CONTRIBUTE!!!!! <
S <---------That's a begging person, btw." So his screen is still bust, but it plays music? That wouldbe fine for me. Perhaps I will try this technique.
